Common in open, sunny locations, blooms all spring and summer.
An Assasin Bug roams an Annual sunflower blossom
hoping for a meal.

Mature leaves have pink viening
and are very fuzzy.
Annual
sunflowers can grow over 7 feet tall in the Central Valley. (My nephew,
Daniel Benoy, is almost 6 feet tall, and not exactly thrilled to pose as
a "flowerchild" for me! Thanks, Dan.)
