Brewer's Blackbird, maleBrewer's Blackbird, female

Brewer's Blackbirds can be seen just about any time of year at Kaweah Oaks Preserve. They are in flocks and can be noisy. The female is not as shiny black as the male, but more brownish. These are the flocks you see at local dairies. They are much smaller than crows and ravens and have no red markings on the shoulders as do the Red-Winged Blackbird. You could say that their size is a bit smaller than a Starling, and much nicer shaped than a Strarling.
