Willow herb can be found in swampy and in dry sandy soil. As the seeds mature, the pods pop open to form whorls of fuzzy fireworks. The wind then carries the seeds on these parachutes far from the parent plant. There are several varieties of this plant on the preserve, images of a few are offered below.
