Robert Urtecho, Ph.D., Instructor at the College of the Sequoias, requested a little help in mounting the 180+ plant specimens he and three of his former students collected and preserved. It was a big project but several of our trail guides accepted the challenge and learned much about the plants of KOP. Robert Urtecho is a fine botanist and taught us how to do a better job at plant ID. Mounting some of the specimens took artful genius, but most were pretty simple. It was a very satisfying experience for all who participated, and Dr. Urtecho is thrilled to have his specimens so artfully preserved and stored away.
We hope to color laser copy these specimens for display at the Preserve and are looking for help in underwriting the cost.
